Fetching of data from database while updating data
Previously its working fine but we are suddenly facing below issue. Over the years I have found the whole Oracle Linked Server thingie to be very fragile, and what seems to have worked for us is using OPENQUERY with only a pass-through query and the results being stored into a Staging table (i.e. Some PKey WHERE Col1 Longshot: Datatype difference one a column(s) between #TEMP table and Oracle's table?
the OPENQUERY is NOT also joined to other, local, tables)I have no idea if that level of abstraction / caution is actually required! So something like this: DECLARE @My SQL Nvarchar(4000)SET @My SQL = 'SELECT Col1, Col2, ... I suspect that in the Old Way a change to Oracle datatype would just make a change to an Implicit Conversion (which may or may not be valid, but perhaps you would get a better error message?
Each Context tag is specific for a particular database used.
One or more Context tags can be used to fetch/update inventory data from one or more databases as per the provisioning operation performed. The connection obtained from the database to fetch/update the inventory data could be created locally or globally.
Globally created connection resource can be used across templates.
Local Connection Specifying the handle Name as indicates that the connection resource is recreated for every template that makes use of the same handle Name.
Globally created connection resource persists until the Web NMS Server is shut down or until it is aborted manually or due to some unforeseen problems.
Global Connection Specifying the handle Name as indicates that the connection resource is created only once and persists until all the templates which uses the same handle Name complete the provisioning operation.
This avoids recreating the connection resource for every template that is executed.
If the handle Name is identical in the same template, an exception "Template Initialization Exception" is thrown.
Hence, you need to ensure that the handle Name is not identical in the same template.
